Problem:
Some users have reported the following issue:
❌ Can’t make or receive phone calls
✅ LTE/mobile data is working
✅ VoLTE is turned on
✅ SIM works in other phones
Why This Happens:
Even if your phone supports VoLTE and shows strong signal/data, the issue can occur if your carrier hasn’t correctly provisioned your SIM for VoLTE and IMS (which are required for calls on 4G networks after the 3G shutdown).
This is a common issue across Australian carriers such as Optus, Telstra, and Vodafone, even after the 3G network was fully shut down.
It can happen:
-
After inserting your SIM into another phone (even temporarily)
-
After traveling between regions
-
After a reboot or network update
-
Randomly, due to backend carrier updates
✅ The Fix:
Contact your carrier (e.g. Optus or Telstra) and ask them to refresh your VoLTE and IMS provisioning.
You can say this over the phone or send them this exact message:
Hi, I have full LTE signal and mobile data, but I’m unable to make or receive calls. My phone shows VoLTE is provisioned, IMS is registered, and everything else works fine.
Could you please refresh or reprovision my SIM’s VoLTE and IMS settings on your end?
This typically resolves the issue in less than 5 minutes.
